Origins and outcomes. Beginning and endings. We make and we break and we pick up the pieces along the way. In the cyclical way of nature, the pattern repeats, progresses, and grows. Scraps from installations past are reworked into new components for a fresh take on enduring concepts and processes found in my work.

Spring is a season for renewal. The desire for return—the demonstration of the power of natural cycles—drives this work. Spider plants (chlorophytum comosum) are prolific. They easily thrive and multiply with minimal care. They prevail. And so, they become common. Combining common items and imagery into large-scale installations transforms the space they inhabit as well as their ordinary meaning into something extraordinary.

Plants, works on paper, and gallery alike transcend their origins, uniting in an immersive environment to enjoy, contemplate, and interact with the work. A plant and its shadow reflect that, however simple, there is great value in the items or experiences that occupy our existence.
