Teah

Portraying plant silhouettes in domestic spaces, these works are based on images collected from fellow plant enthusiasts to reinforce and strengthen relationships in times of isolation. Drawing in Micron pen, cut paper, and collage, the original images are inverted: areas of light are rendered in black paper, shadow forms in white, and gray substitutes for any actual objects. The shadows are then embellished and enlivened with pattern to convey their primacy, giving form and substance to the void. Patterns are chosen not only to suit each composition but are also indicative of each individual contributor. These works celebrate plants and the kindred spirits who nurture them alike.

Completed from 2022-2023, all works in this series are 18x24” and are titled for the contributor whose source images was used.
