co·a·lesc·ence (n.) integration, fusion, unification

1  growing together

2  uniting into a whole; uniting for a common end

3  arising from the combination of distinct elements

Spider plants (chlorophytum comosum) are prolific. They easily thrive and multiply with minimal care. They prevail. And so, they become common. The repeated capture of their silhouettes presents and preserves this characteristic on paper. Indefinitely repeating the process and displaying the components alongside the very plants whose shadows made them exemplifies both natural cycles and the creative impulse. Drawing, sewing, cut paper, and collage are used to generate a range of mark-making, surface detail, and means of attachment.  In direct response to site-specific architectural details, the assorted paper components accumulate and amalgamate in a fusion of common items, imagery, & space for an entirely new experience.
